Do you ever feel like you have so many ideas in your head of
things you wanna do, or say, and somehow they all make sense one day and go
completely array the next? You feel like
you have a great thought, plan, or idea then all of the sudden it’s absolutely
insane. Or better yet, the disappointment
you feel when YOUR plan has failed? I
think we all need a little bit of Jesus when it comes to this – it is His plan,
not our own. I have a hard time NOT
planning everything and letting it happen the way it should. If I’m right, I think a lot of us have
trouble with this one. We have to
realize that just because things didn’t happen as WE planned, that doesn’t mean
they aren’t happening how God has planned them.
The reality of it all is that everyone is aiming for some type of perfect in their lives. They either don’t feel it, don’t love it, already have it, or are one 10k marathon away from achieving it. Everyone’s perfect is different. To one person success in a career field they enjoy is perfect. To another being a stay at home mom and raising a happy, healthy family is perfect. To some, it’s finding the perfect mate, building their dream home, traveling, becoming an entrepreneur, graduating with their masters – whatever it may be, we are all searching for it. We all have these ideas, goals – if you will, that makes us feel complete. Success is determined by the “accomplish of an aim or purpose”. It’s true – ask Webster. Point is, success and perfection are two different things that go hand in hand, yet when paired together make for either an utterly happy and humble person OR an overly proud and arrogant person. The choice is ultimately your own.
My issue is with the
constant comparing of all these aims & purposes. People everywhere will bicker over social
media on “How to Raise Your Children”, “How to Get a Man and Keep Him Happy”,
“Top 10 Things Happy People Do”. Instead of seeing photos of old
friends in new places, far away family and their new additions, we are stuck
with articles on How-Tos and How-Not-To-Dos.
That’s not to mention all the bitching people are doing about so &
so, disrespecting them, or airing their dirty laundry on the INTERNET, (because that always solves everything, right?). Honestly, it’s so
disheartening to see how amazing our society COULD be if we all stopped
focusing on the negative and started living as supportive, caring, and, I won’t
even say selfless, because let’s face
it – we are all selfish 90% of the time, it's not our fault, we were born that way. With God's help though, and His perfect love and His word, we have the means to understand a selfless love, and how to try and be more like Him.
At some point we have
to stop and realize that life is not about how wrong someone is for doing
something you don’t agree with, it’s not our job to take it upon ourselves to
prove everyone wrong, and it’s certainly not about getting
even or putting someone on blast for wronging you. Forgiveness is almost unheard of these
days. You know the phrase forgive and
forget? There is no success in that when
you leave out the “forget” part. You can
forgive someone all you want, (that's pretty easy to say), but the second you are reminded of the hurt or
anger they caused you are quick to reach back into that barrel of dirty laundry
and air it out for the 900th time to anyone who will listen.
GET OVER IT.
Let people live. Let people be
people. We are all human. We are all “aiming” for that feeling of
purpose: Our calling. Whatever it is that we were put here on this
earth to do. Whatever is going to
ultimately make us happy and to make us better individuals. Maybe going to church every Sunday is what you
need. Do it. It’s all about finding that
thing and not letting anyone else drag you down. Believe in yourself. If you believe in
something, believe it to the fullest.
Praise it. Live it. Enjoy your life and the journey while we are here
to do so. You never know when God will be
ready for you. Until then, make peace
with yourself. You will be surprised at
how much happiness THAT alone will bring you.
Amen!
