Good morning everyone!!
I usually don't like to post a lot of negative things - but this really made my blood boil this morning, especially since I was having a great morning, so I decided to write about it, get my vent out, get over it, and continue on with my great day!!
I'm driving to work this morning after dropping my daughter off at daycare. If you're from Fairbanks, picture McGrath road, and if you're not, imagine a very narrow, winding road, with lots of bumps and turns) that's where my problem began. The speed limit is 40 (I think, lol), and the slow poke in front of me was doing about 25. If you've ever driven with me, you know that I have little patience for slow drivers, (come people, lets at least do the speed limit here). You can imagine my frustration when I slow it down, obviously, because you can't pass on McGrath. Out of nowhere comes this huge F-250 truck hauling ass (excuse my French thru this story), behind me and decides to tail me so close that if I brake checked him, I would have gone thru my windshield. (Probably not since the roads dry now, but you get my drift). We turn off onto Farmers loop where as always, there's a whole line of traffic coming, so I can't immediately pass the slow poke in front of me. When the opportunity comes, I change lines to go around, and instantly the truck behind me swerves over, still behind me, (and on my ass), so I get far enough in front of the slow car and get back in the right lane, (so does the truck).

At this point I notice he's wearing a POLICE officer uniform, he's an off duty cop in a personal truck. I'm thinking that it's a little strange how bad he's been tailing me and swerving in and out of lanes (no blinker, mind you). Again, I go to pass another vehicle, the truck follows and swerves back behind me! I'm getting a little irritated at this point because after all, isn't his job to drive SAFELY and make sure other drivers do as well, on AND off duty? Guess I was wrong. Way wrong.
Long story short(ish), he tails me all the way to the overpass (at this point we are in the far left lane), and he proceeds to cut across not one, but all lanes to get into the exit for College Road - all while holding up his middle finger and I'm assuming using some very lovely choice words directed my way, that I'm glad I couldn't hear.
I was in complete shock, I mean, of course I've been flipped off before (no big deal, because hey, I probably deserve it sometimes!). I never really let it bother me because some people just NEED to be negative, but really, an off duty police officer? So much for "protect & serve", right? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for respecting those who risk their lives in service, but don't take the authority to your head and become a raging ass hole just because you know you can get away with it. This is a small community and word gets around fast when you treat people in such a way that makes your authority seems completely insignificant.
That's the end if my rant, thanks for reading!! I hope you enjoy your day - and hey, try not to be that ass hole driver, someone today is probably going to irritate you at one point or another, (on or off the road), but let it go. It's not even worth the energy it takes to hold up that middle finger in their direction! ;)
