To Cook or Not to Cook...

Ever heard the saying, “Stick to what your good at?” – I really like that statement, however, it almost feels like a challenge to me.  It challenges me to look at myself and actually find out WHAT I am good at.  I mean, I know I’m good around the house, I’m great at cleaning, I can vacuum like there’s no tomorrow, toilets – what ring? – and I even use the little scraper thing for the stove to get all the burnt-on, crusty food cleaned off.  But, as far as cooking goes, my husband is usually the one in the kitchen making those messes for me to clean up.  Okay, I’ll give him credit here, he DOES help out with cleaning a lot more than most.  But what I really love is his cooking.  He will make anything, anytime, for anyone and he loves it.  I guess I didn’t really have a problem with it because, hey, that’s one less thing on my to-do list every night.  I stay pretty busy keeping up with the house and bills, (he makes the money, I spend it – on bills, of course), and chasing after our 10 month old who is now into anything and everything she can get her tiny little busy body hands on.  I just recently started thinking more about cooking and how I’m not very good at it. Or I guess I just want to be better at it. I mean, I can definitely follow a recipe and that Kraft mac n cheese box ain't got nothin’ on me, but I mean REALLY cooking…or even baking for that matter.  I need to get in the kitchen more often, and not just to make bottles or fill the juice pitcher.  I like to blame it also on the fact that the kitchen in our condo is tiny, like two-people-can-barely-turn-around-in-it tiny, and if I’m going to learn anything I really need a bigger workshop, right?  I like that excuse, I’ll stick to that.  I have HOPE that if God wants me to learn, He will give me the tools & resources to do so, (and the will to want to).  In the meantime, if anyone has any EASY - doesn’t take too much prep-time OR ingredients and is semi-healthy  - recipes, shoot them my way!  Let the learning commence!

Happy Saturday!
